TYPES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Battery Electric Vehicles

BEV's use only electricity to run. There are no engine parts hence low maintenance and zero carbon emission.

Plug-in Hybrids

PHEV's can be fueled with both electricity as well as fossil fuel. There is typically less carbon emission than ICE vehicles.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Hybrid vehicles use only fossil fuels to power the engine. Can't be charged. Usually, have low carbon emission.

More About BEV's

Battery Electric Vehicles are also called BEVs and more frequently known as EV. These are fully electric vehicles with rechargeable batteries and no internal combustion engine. All energy to run the vehicle comes from the battery pack which can be recharged from the electricity. BEVs are zero-emissions vehicles, as they do not generate any harmful greenhouse emission or cause any air pollution hazards caused by traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. Some popular EV models are pictured here and a full list of available fast-charging EV models is available in the chart above.

More About PHEV's

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, or PHEVs, have both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor to drive the car. Like typical hybrids, they can recharge their battery through regenerative braking. They differ from regular hybrids by being able to plug into the charger to recharge. Once the all-electric range is depleted, PHEVs act as regular hybrids, and can travel several hundred km on a fuel tank. All PHEVs can charge at a RIMONE L2 charger, but most PHEVs are not capable of supporting fast charging.
PHEV Examples:
Audi A3 E-Tron • BMW 330e • BMWi8 • BMWx5 xdrive40e • Chevy Volt • Chrysler Pacifica • Fiat 500e • Ford C-Max Energi • Ford Fusion Energi • Hyundai Sonata • Kia Optima •Mercedes C530e • Mercedes S550e • Mercedes GLE550e • Mini Cooper SE Countryman • Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid • Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid • Toyota Prius • Volvo XC90 TB

More About HEV's

Hybrid electric vehicles or HEV's runs only on fossil fuels. Though HEV's are capable of generating power while braking through regenerative braking mechanism which will, later on, help to power the car. These can't be plugged in for charging.
